The Fender American Original '50s Telecaster comes equipped with two Pure Vintage '52 pickups, which have been constructed to deliver the sweet, twangy and articulate sound the original Tele's were known for. These powerfully-vintage pickups are constructed to be as period correct as possible from its enamel-coated coil wire to the cloth-covered output wires, fibre bobbins, and alnico 3 magnets. Fender even made sure the steel base plates are copper plated, while the pickup's pole pieces are flush-mounted just like the originals. Furthermore, the American Original's bridge pickup projects a twangy tone when the guitar is lightly picked, yet delivers a fat, juicy, warm compression when driven hard. In addition, the neck pickup delivers a sweet, articulate and clear sound to add to its melodically-vintage tonal characteristics. With this, players who love to explore the musical possibilities of the 1950's are to certain to achieve sounds from genres including rock 'n' roll, modern country, rhythm and blues, rockabilly, swing, and pop.
With a highly recognisable and iconic Telecaster body, players can appreciate and benefit from its cutaway profile, which not only acts as an aesthetic appeal, but promotes the access to the upper fingerboard. The Telecaster's body is flat with wide shoulders which offer superb durability, perfect for those touring guitarists needing an incredibly reliable instrument with Fender's signature style and tone. Furthermore, the American Original features an ash body, which delivers bright, crisp and articulate tones with firm lows, snappy highs, good resonance, and plenty of twang. Its ash body also offers players a lightweight and comfortable playing experience. In addition, the Fender American Original features an ashtray bridge, where the strings go through the back of the guitar, offering incredibly stable strings while improving sustain and adding resonance.
With a neck constructed from maple, the American Original has a bright attack with great sustain. The Fender American Original Tele features a thick U shaped neck profile which fills the hand provides a comfortable and secure grip no matter how much you like to race up and down the neck. The U neck profile is also perfect for players who like to place their thumb on the back or side of the neck, whilst its familiar 9.5'' fingerboard radius offers enhanced playability. Furthermore, the smooth playing neck is topped with a maple fingerboard which adds more sustain and plenty of bite to the guitar's overall sound.
The rich history of Fender guitars begins with the Telecaster. An indispensable instrument, the Telecaster was the world's first successful solid-body electric guitar. Perfected after two years of development - and a name change or two - the Telecaster debuted in February 1951 and began its steady ascent towards the stage and studio. Ingeniously engineered with the ability to be heard both loud and clear, it was a marvel of simple design elegance and workhorse functionality. It is perhaps fitting testimony to its essential original rightness that the Telecaster design has hardly changed ever since.
