Lightweight Ash body
The ESP GB Bass is constructed from a solid ash body, offering an enhanced low end with extra layers of depth. The ash tonewood delivering a classic rich, warm tone, featuring plenty of treble and bright characteristics to create an incredible amount of sustain. The combining the ash body with the maple neck and fingerboard infuses the ESP E-II with a strong midrange and a crisp, warm bass, making it ideal for a variety of playing styles.
Bolt-On Maple Neck & Fingerboard
The maple neck and fingerboard creates beautifully bright tones, with even harmonics and a powerful fundamental character. The maple tonewood is the perfect choice for producing clear and present notes, with its strong sustain and sharp bite adding extra detail to the top end while tightening up the low-end. Its bolt-on construction enhances the overall tone with more treble and attack than traditional set-necks, offering plenty of articulation and upper fret access. The neck also features a thin-U profile, allowing players to easily reach across the entire fingerboard without losing any comfort.
Seymour Duncan SSB-5 Soapbar
The ESP E-II Bass is equipped with a set of Seymour Duncan SSB-5 Soapbar pickups, delivering a strong sonic punch with great tonal properties suitable for a variety of playing styles. The SSB-5 Soapbar pickups are designed for 5-string basses and drop tunings, offering the same articulation and low-end clarity shine found on 4-string basses but with an extended frequency range. Their moderate output provides the GB-5 bass with subtle tonal qualities, adding an extra layer of depth and providing players with a beautifully organic feel.
Seymour Duncan’s STC-3M3 Preamp
The E-II GB Bass is also equipped with the Seymour Duncan STC-3M3 Preamp, featuring a 3-band EQ with a stacked bass/treble control and their proprietary slap switch located on the volume pot. Its bass, mids, and treble knobs provide the perfect level of control over the frequencies, while the balancer and volume controls let you find the bass’ sweet spot on any stage. Engaging the slap switch will deliver a specially voiced EQ contour, designed for the unique tones created from slap playing.
The Hipshot A Style Bridge
The addition of the Hipshot A style bridge provides the ESP E-II Bass with an incredible intonation, allowing each string to vibrate freely while keeping them locked and secure. The bridge has been precision machined for the perfect performance, offering a fully adjustable groove-locking saddle design to ensure there is no-buzz tone transfer. Apart from its sleek modern look, the Hipshot A style bridge can accommodate either a string-through or top-load setup, while its quick load slots offering quick and easy string changes.
