The bridge pickup is 30% hotter and the neck pickup 20% hotter than vintage specifications, complementing the guitar’s deep B Standard tuning.
Vintage-inspired appointments include the 1954-style Full Bell headstock, ’58-style Skate Key tuners, and rarely seen U3 pickguard design from 1955. A traditional rosewood saddle bridge adds a naturally warm, sweet tonal quality, while an adjustable saddle bridge is also supplied for players who want greater tweakability. The Dan O Cool Baritone features a pair of 1950s-style Lipstick pickups, bringing one of Danelectro’s most recognisable sounds to the deeper range of a baritone. They retain the sweetness, rich harmonics, and distinctive sparkle associated with classic Dano instruments, but Danelectro has increased their output for a more powerful response. The bridge pickup is 30% hotter than vintage specifications, while the neck pickup is 20% hotter. That additional output brings extra growl to the instrument’s low register while retaining the unmistakable character of Lipstick single-coils.
The Dan O Cool Baritone draws on several distinctive features from Danelectro’s golden era. Its Full Bell headstock takes its inspiration from the design first introduced in 1954, while the characterful Skate Key tuning machines date back to ’58. Danelectro has also brought back the rarely seen U3 pickguard design from 1955, adding another authentic period detail. Together, these features give the guitar an unmistakably retro appearance, combining elements from several classic Danelectro designs in one instrument with plenty of individual visual personality.
A traditional rosewood saddle bridge brings another piece of Danelectro history to the Dan O Cool Baritone. Both bridges use the same three-screw mounting pattern, making it straightforward to swap between the traditional rosewood design and the more adjustable alternative when required.
