The Boss GX-1 is built for guitarists who want a proper rig in a grab-and-go box, with a compact chassis that slips into a gig bag pocket and a rugged layout that’s happy on the floor or on a desk. It’s light enough to take everywhere, but it doesn’t feel like a toy, and the onboard expression pedal means you can travel without extra gear while still getting hands-on control. Who needs an extensive pedal board?!
AIRD amp technology gives you that convincing “push back” and touch response that makes your playing feel alive, so clean sounds stay open, crunch reacts to pick attack, and high-gain patches keep their focus. You get 23 amp types to cover classic and modern flavours, plus support for WAV speaker IRs if you want to tailor the cabinet feel to your own guitars, pickups and monitors.
With over 140 BOSS effects on tap and eight effect blocks running at once, the GX-1 is more than a simple practice unit; it’s a full sound-design tool for real songs. Dial in drives, mods, delays and reverbs, stack them creatively, and save them to 99 user memories for instant recall. The colour screen and dedicated effect category buttons keep editing quick, so you can build a patch in minutes and get back to playing.
Bluetooth audio and MIDI make it easy to practise along with tracks and tweak sounds wirelessly using BOSS Tone Studio, while USB-C connectivity turns the GX-1 into a clean recording interface for your DAW. Power is flexible too, running from AA batteries, an AC adaptor or USB, so you can rehearse, record or play a quick set without hunting for sockets. Add external footswitches or a second expression pedal if you want more control as your setup grows - the possibilities are almost unlimited.
