The Yamaha FG-403 is a vintage Japanese acoustic guitar produced during the early 1980s. Built by Nippon Gakki in Hamamatsu, the FG-403 occupied a premium position within Yamaha's contemporary FG range and combines quality Japanese construction with an attractive semi-jumbo body design.

A solid spruce top provides a responsive and articulate foundation, developing the mature character expected from a guitar of this age. Rosewood back and sides complement the spruce with a rich low end and clear upper-frequency response, producing a balanced sound suitable for both fingerstyle playing and strumming.

The FG-403 uses a comfortable medium-sized semi-jumbo body rather than the larger dreadnought proportions found on many FG models. This provides strong acoustic projection while retaining a comfortable playing position and a focused, articulate tonal response.
