You’ll still get a solid crack, especially when tuned higher, but overall, the tone leans toward the dark, bold, and aggressive. Due to its size, it may respond slightly slower and have reduced sensitivity at lower dynamics compared to shallower drums, making it best suited for high-energy styles and heavier playing.

Birch shells, known for their bright, punchy tone and quick attack, offer excellent projection and a naturally EQ’d sound with reduced overtones, making them ideal for clarity and control in both live and recording settings.
