The shallower 5.5" depth results in a shorter sustain and quicker decay, offering a more immediate response and less resonance than deeper snares. Birch shells, known for their bright, punchy tone and quick attack, offer excellent projection and a naturally EQ’d sound with reduced overtones, making them ideal for clarity and control in both live and recording settings.
