The ADM17 Proton gives you versatile control over your delay line. The coarse and fine tune knobs give you full control of the pitch, while damping and decay knobs allow you to control the timbre. The damping knob is a low pass filter of the feedback line enabling you to produce a dark or bright sound. The decay knob is essentially feedback control allowing you to adjust the length.
On the right hand side of the module there is an IMP filter and IMP decay control. These control the impulse that starts the delay line which is a little noise burst. The impulse filter controls a pair of filters on the noise burst impulse. Turning the knob anti-clockwise will result in a low pass filter, whereas turning it clockwise results in a high pass filter allowing you to control the timbre of the impulse, and the resulting pluck. When set at 12 o'clock there will be no filtering. The impulse decay control sets the release time of the noise burst's envelope, resulting in a heavily coloured pluck.
As Karplus-Strong synthesis is known to lack bottom end in general, Audio Damage have added sub control. The sub control adds low frequency content allowing you to produce thick low end in the bass register. With added sub control the Proton allows for both delicate plucks and chunky bass lines.
