Analogue Systems RS-150 Sequential Switch

Details

The Analogue Systems RS-150 Sequential Switch is a switch module that allows you to switch up to 4 input signals to 1 common output. It can be used when you want to create a sound that can change instantly and radically. This can either be the timbre, filter, or different sequence of notes. The RS-150 allows for switching to be done manually or by a trigger pulse or clock. The RS-150 Sequential Switch features two 3-way toggle switches that allow you to direct the signal, and also select the final step before the cycle repeats.

Stop, Run & Step Modes

The Analogue Systems RS-150 offers 3 modes of operation. These are Stop, Run, and Step. When Stop is selected, the module directs the signal presented to the currently selected input to the output. When Run is selected, the module will cycle between the inputs, directing the signal at each in turn to the output. When Step is selected, the module manually cycles the inputs. You can also use this to 'fine tune' each input prior to selecting Run.

Reset 2/4/3

This switch selects the final step before the cycle repeats. Once either step 2, 3, or 4 is reached, the next STEP or clock/trigger will return the Switch to step 1. Basically this creates a loop from when the step selected is reached, essentially shortening the sequence length.

In Use

The Analogue Systems RS-150 is ideal for a range of applications. It is mainly used to create sounds where the fundamental character requires instantaneous and radical switching. For example, the RS-150 can be used to create a sound where the timbre changes quickly, switching between the 2 to create a chaotic sound. It can also be used to create a sound where modulations change rapidly and unexpectedly as it develops. It can also be used for switching between different sequences of notes.

Features

  • 4-channel sequential switch
  • Can be used for when you want to create a sound where the fundamental character requires instantaneous and radical changing
  • Allows you to select between multiple inputs and direct the chosen signal to the input of the next module in the patch
  • Switching can be done manually, or be triggered by a suitable clock or trigger pulse
  • Stop, Run & Step modes:
    • Stop - Module directs signal presented to the currently selected input to the output
    • Run - With a suitable signal applied to CLOCK IN, the module will cycle between the INPUTs, directing the signal at each in turn to the OUTPUT
    • Step - Manually cycles the INPUTs. If desired, you can use this to 'fine tune' each input prior to selecting Run
  • Reset 2/4/3:
    • 2 - Once step 2 is reached, the next STEP or clock/trigger will return to step 1, therefore 1-2-1-2..
    • 4 - Once step 4 is reached, the next STEP or clock/trigger will return to step 1, therefore 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4..
    • 3 - Once step 3 is reached, the next STEP or clock/trigger will return to step 1, therefore 1-2-3-1-2-3..
