AKG Factory-Matched Microphones
AKG known that realistic stereo recordings require microphones with outstanding performance and excellent quality. It also requires consistency and accurate localization from the microphones, therefore every factory-matched pair of C314's come from thousands of individual microphones that are then selected by AKG's sophisticated computer-aided matching method. This results in the highest possible correlation over the whole frequency range and virtually identical sensitivity - providing you with incredible, stunning, three-dimensional recordings.
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The AKG C314 is a highly versatile large-diaphragm condenser microphone. The unique multi-pattern design features four selectable polar patterns, designed for various recording applications. This makes the C314 a powerhouse of a microphone, ideal for everything from studio-grade vocal recordings to capturing drum overheads, guitar cabs, ambience and more. At the core of the microphone is the 1-inch dual-diaphragm capsule. It also boasts low self-noise for high-dynamic applications and improved audio performance.
Exceptional Audio Fidelity
The premium-grade dual-diaphragm capsule provides a wide frequency range, spanning from 20Hz – 20kHz. This ensures you capture every nuance from your source audio, ideal for studio-grade recordings from multiple sound sources. The capsule also boasts low-self noise for improved audio performance. Its dual, computer-matched diaphragm ensures exceptional accuracy and overall clarity. It also features an integrated suspension, reducing mechanical noise for pure and natural recordings.
Four Selectable Polar Patterns
The C314 is unique in its design, with four integrated and selectable polar patterns. This means you can record virtually any source, with each polar pattern designed to cater to different sound sources and recording environments. The four patterns are comprised of: cardioid, supercardioid, omnidirectional and figure-8 polar patterns. Each polar pattern is suited to various instruments/recording situations. For example, the supercardioid pattern is ideal for reducing drum spill, the cardioid pattern would be perfect for recording studio-grade vocal performances. The figure-8 pattern would be great for a pair of vocalists and the omnidirectional is great for drum overheads and more.
Overload Detection & Bass-Cut Filter
One of the most convenient features of the microphone, is the integrated overload detection. This feature comes in the form of an LED, providing a visual indication of when your input levels are too high. This allows you to easily monitor your levels, directly from the microphone; ensuring distortion-free recording every time. It also includes a two-position bass cut filter switch, allows you to minimise unwanted rumbles and vibrations. It is also great for minimising the proximity effect for balanced recordings.
The C314 is designed to be a workhouse, not only looking sleek but ensuring optimal durability for sustained and prolonged use. Its elegant design includes a transparent double-mesh, all-metal grille, protecting the internal components and providing a high level of RF immunity. The rugged and scratch-resistant body is ideal for both studio use and live sound applications. Additionally, the microphone comes complete with a H85 universal shock mount, a SA60 stand adapter and W214 windscreen. It also includes a metal carrying case for storing and transporting your microphone, with maximum protection.
