The Fender Custom Shop '55/'56 Whiteguard Telecaster Pickups are built to capture the unmistakable voice of mid-1950s Tele models. Every detail is designed to match the originals, delivering that raw, twangy sound that defined early electric country and rock. With vintage output and dynamic response, these pickups offer a faithful recreation of one of Fender’s most iconic eras.
At the heart of the bridge pickup are hand-bevelled, staggered alnico 5 magnets. This staggered configuration enhances string-to-string balance, creating tighter note separation and punchier attack. It brings out more focus and dynamics, perfect for twangy leads, precise rhythms and expressive bends without any harshness or drop-off.
The neck pickup uses alnico 3 magnets, a detail true to the early Whiteguard period. These produce a sweeter, warmer tone with tight low-end response and a touch of midrange character. It’s ideal for smooth rhythm parts, laid-back leads or adding body to clean tones without overwhelming the mix.
To complete the authentic experience, these pickups feature enamel-coated magnet wire, cloth-covered lead wires and fibre bobbins. They're also wax-potted to prevent unwanted feedback while preserving vintage character.
