The New LD Systems MAUI G3 Series

06/04/2023

Looking for a new column speaker system? LD Systems have you sorted with their new MAUI G3 series of column speakers. These are the successors to the bestselling MAUI 28 G2 and 11 G2 column speakers and offer many improvements for you to discover.

In a hurry?

LD System’s MAUI G3 Series consist of two new column PA systems: MAUI 28 G3 and MAUI 11 G3.

These are both available in black and white versions depending on the look you’re going for.

There’s also a wide range of new accessories to coincide with this release, including speaker covers and bags.

These speakers are an ideal choice for DJs and small bands thanks to their user-friendly operation, compact and easily transportable build, and far-reaching, wide, and powerful sound dispersion.

What’s new? G2 vs. G3

LD Systems MAUI 11 G3 Column PA System, WhiteYou might be thinking; what’s so special about the G3 series compared to the previous G2 series? And while they might share some similarities, the G3 has lots more to offer that makes it worth investing in.

For a start, each model of the G3 series has larger subwoofers meaning that the bass is improved and much deeper. This, along with a new acoustic design for the sub and an optimised ellipsoidal bass-reflex port, means that each G3 model can produce lower frequencies than their G2 counterpart.

The G3 series has also introduced new midrange phase plugs. This has increased the speaker’s sensitivity below the crossover point and also results in fewer harmonic distortions than the G2 series.

Plus, on top of the sonic improvements, the G3 series has been designed for both more elegance and endurance.

It has achieved this with a column plug-in system that has been newly developed for improved stability. It also now has an impact-resistant polyurea coating, giving the system the longevity it requires for life on the road.

What’s available?

LD Systems Maui 28 G3 Column PA SystemThe MAUI G3 has two models available, both in black and white. These offer different speaker sizes, power ratings, and overall SPL levels, depending on your individual needs.

The MAUI 11 G3 uses two 8″ subwoofers, six 3.5″ mid-woofers, and two 1″ tweeters on a waveguide.

These are powered by a built-in amplifier for a 1460 W peak, resulting in a 125 dB max SPL.

The MAUI 28 G3 uses a single 12″ subwoofer, twelve 3.5″ mid-woofers, and two 1″ tweeters on a waveguide.

These are powered by a built-in amplifier for a 2060 W peak, resulting in a 127 dB max SPL.

These are the main ways in which these two systems differ, but apart from this, they share all their other features.

Make sure you’re heard: constant horizontal directivity

Each MAUI G3 PA system’s column is designed for wide horizontal directivity and tight and focused vertical directivity.

This is achieved thanks to the new optimised midrange phase plugs and the curved wave guide for the tweeters. The result is a 120 x 30° directivity – so even audience members at the far side of the room can hear what’s going on.

More bass? No problem.

LD Systems MAUI G3 Column PA SystemIf you want to improve the low-end response of your MAUI G3 system, LD Systems have made it easy to do so.

You can simply add another MAUI G3 subwoofer, and link it to your main sub as a “follower” sub.

The subwoofer will automatically detect if it’s in follower mode when you remove the column from it.

This can give you a +6dB increase in low-end response: ideal for outdoor settings or bigger rooms.

You can also use this feature to add more power to the front in cardioid mode, which allows you to use an additional sub to direct more power frontwards and reduce the amount of noise behind.

This is ideal if you need a cleaner sound on stage for less feedback and can result in overall better sound quality thanks to fewer reflections from the walls.

Ease-of-use is a priority

LD Systems have stripped back the G3’s user interface to make it as headache-free as possible to operate. This is particularly ideal for DJs who don’t need many inputs and don’t want to be faffing around with a complicated setup when getting ready to spin some tunes.

The rear panel has controls for the main volume and subwoofer volume, so you can mix them independently. There are also controls for Bluetooth 5.0 streaming – great for playing music between sets if you’re a musician. And the inputs take both XLR and 1/4″ for a flexible setup.

The new PA system for anyone

If you need powerful sound in a compact and easy-to-use package, the MAUI G3 series of PA systems might be for you. Both the MAUI 28 G3 and the MAUI 11 G3 offer sound that will fill rooms and get your audience dancing – whether you’re a DJ or in a band.
