You Asked, We Answered – Find Out About Premier’s Centenary Year!

22/10/2022

To mark Premier’s 100-year anniversary Gear4music have reached out to Premier’s loyal fanbase via Facebook to find out just exactly what they want to know about the new launch. See the answers to your questions below!

“On the Gear4music site they have very little of Premier… why?” – Emanuele A. (Facebook)A green Premier drum kit in a studio with yellow lighting behind

Hi Emanuele, this is a great question. The reason we did have so little Premier on our website was that we had a limited run of end-of-line stock that arrived in early January and sold quickly. Rather than rush and release new products that did not deserve the iconic “P” badge, we made the decision to take our time and get it right. We’re glad we did as we’re proud of what we’ve achieved working with the Premier team. All these exciting 2022 products can now be seen on the Gear4music Premier page.

“Can you get Premier products back in Canada?” – Frank R. (Facebook)

Hi Frank! The Gear4music website is the perfect place to buy Premier. Not only are we able to ship to Canada in an estimated 5-10 days, but we can also deliver products to well over 190 countries (at the time of writing). To find out more about where we ship and the time it takes, please click here.

“Can we please have Premier Drums to be proud of again? The build quality has been shocking recently and I want to buy and play Premier but not until that’s fixed. Bring back long lugs.” – Matthew P. (Facebook)

Hi Matthew, thanks for the question. You can indeed. We’re extremely proud of the Premier kits that are coming out in its centenary year. Working with a select number of factories, the strictest levels of quality control have been maintained at all times.

The product development process has been an amazing collaboration; we’ve worked closely with the Premier team alongside some incredible artists, producers, and engineers.

From the choice of mounted hardware to the deliberation of which wood is best suited to each range, everyone involved has had nothing but good things to say about the new kits. We’ve even had some people requesting the opportunity to purchase a kit in advance after trying them.

Hi Adrian, Yes! And by the time you’re reading this, the centenary products will be available for sale. Premier are bringing out a few special products to mark the occasion.

The centrepiece is the UK-made Della-Porta 100 snare. This 14″ x 5″ walnut snare is strictly limited to 100 pieces to mark 100 years, so once they’re gone, they’re gone! Each comes with a custom centenary pewter badge, a bespoke Premier branded hard case, as well as a certificate of authenticity.

There’s also the Genista 100SE, a special edition re-imagining of the Genista Classic. This drum kit has a beautifully lacquered tri-band finish. The red bands showcase the grain, creating the perfect contrast to the solid white that is reminiscent of the more distinctive colours seen on the Premier kits. You can also purchase two snare drums separately in the same finish that are 14” x 5.5” and 14” x 7”.

The other kit available is the Artist Club 100, a special edition of the ever-popular compact club kit that was first released in 1999. Comprising a 10″ x 6″ tom, 13″ x 11″ floor tom, 13” x 5.5” snare, and 20″ x 8″ bass drum, the kit is finished in British racing green.

Premier will also be releasing some centenary branded merchandise including t-shirts and hoodies, with other items to follow.

“Is there going to be broader distribution?” – Richard B. (Facebook)

Hi Richard, currently Premier drums can be bought from Gear4music. Although it’s important to note that although we ship to over 190 countries, Premier products can also be bought from a trusted list of distributors. You can find out more about this by visiting the distribution section of the all-new Premier website.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the kind comment. We’ve had lots of fun working closely with the Premier team to ensure the company gets the care and attention that it deserves. It’s going to be great to see all-new Premier kits, shell packs, snares, and individual drums back on the market again.

“Are Gear4Music going to respect the history of the company and produce a quality instrument, or are they going to just live off the name and make a Chinese budget kit?” – Paul A. (Facebook)

Hi Paul, yes. When the company first acquired Premier, we went to great lengths, discussing with the remaining dedicated Premier staff to understand Premier’s DNA legacy so we could reimagine it for today’s players.

We wanted to create specific price points for each line and chose the most appropriate factories to help realise Premier’s vision, ensuring that the price reflects the value and quality.

As touched on in other answers, we’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback we’ve received on the new lines from respected drummers and recording studios, many of whom are long-lasting Premier artists. We’re excited to see the public’s response on Oct 22nd!
