Redoptor 2 uses advanced DSP algorithms to accurately mimic the behaviour of these complex analog circuits down to all the small interactions that happen between your signal and the tube amplification, capturing the quirks and subtleties of each individual element of the signal chain. Additionally, the Redoptor 2 features a tube bias parameter, allowing you to virtually adjust the transient shaping of your signal.
Where a traditional analog preamp stops, the Redoptor 2 continues. Now, you can process your left and right channels independent from each other to get the best sound from your audio source. For example, you can process the left and right channels of a stereo set of drum overhead microphones differently to add more or less harmonic distortion depending on the volume and tone of each cymbal within the stereo spectrum or send the treble notes of your stereo synthesizer signal into searing overdrive whilst leaving the lower register untouched and natural.
Adding overdriven tube distortion to your signal will inherently add a healthy dose of compression to your signal due to the level of distortion applied to your signal, therefore the Redoptor 2 features a creative solution for taming your dynamics with a pre-gain compressor and post-gain limiter. The pre-gain compressor is perfect for taming the dynamics of your signal before hitting the vast levels of overdrive to keep your signal consistent, meaning you avoid any loud, distorted peaks in certain regions of the frequency spectrum. This will give your sound a consistent and professional sound with more headroom to mix the rest of your tracks with. Once you have processed your sound through the tube distortion circuits, the master output limiter tames any pokey transients that can make your signal jump too far out of your mix, letting you glue your master tracks with more volume.
