Analogue Systems RS-110N Multiple Mode Filter (Dual Bus)

Details
The Analogue Systems RS-110 Multiple Mode Filter is a resonance analog multi-mode filter comprising of a 2-channel audio mixer followed by 4 parallel, voltage controllable resonant filters. Thanks to the new dual bus concept this circuit is fully compatible to Doepfer's eurorack standard. The RS-110 features 4 filter modes including 24db/oct low-pass and high-pass, 12db/oct band-pass, and 12db/oct notch, offering flexible sound design abilities. The resonance can self-oscillate, meaning the module can double up as a secondary sound generator. A unique feature of the Analogue Systems RS-110 is that you can break the feedback loop by patching in other audio processors such as distortion and delays, allowing for complex results.

Dual Bus Version

The dual bus version of the RS-110 features 2 power connectors. This allows it to connect directly either to an Analogue Systems modular system, or a Doepfer modular system. Adapters are no longer necessary. Because of the different position of mounting holes, there will be a gap of 0.5HP (2.5mm) when mounting an Analogue Systems module next to a eurorack module. Gaps can be covered by 1.5HP wide blank panels from Doepfer.

Multiple Filter Modes

The RS-110 Multiple Mode Filter features 4 different filter modes, offering flexible sound shaping abilities. Using these filters together allows you to create a range of sounds from thick basses to warped pads. The RS-110 provides steep 24db/oct low-pass and high-pass outputs, which allows you to eliminate more frequencies completely, whereas the 12db/oct band-pass and notch outputs are ideal for more targeted EQing and sound shaping. The cutoff frequencies of the low-pass and high-pass outputs are the center frequencies of the band-pass and notch outputs. All 4 modes are available simultaneously, however cutoff and resonance cannot be defined individually for each.

Unique Insert Patch In Resonance Feedback Loop

If you connect the notch output with the resonance input, the filter behavior gets more aggressive and metallic. This is only one of the ways that you can interrupt the feedback resonance path. A unique feature of the RS-110 is that you can introduce other modules such as delays and distortions into the feedback loop that produces the resonance to create complex results. Additionally, the resonance self-oscillates at its maximum setting, allowing the module to act as a secondary sound source.

Level Controls

The level controls offer unity gain at approximately the 2 o'clock position. When positioned at their fullest anticlockwise position they attenuate the signal fully. When they are positioned at their fullest clockwise position they offer a small gain, which also allows you to 'overdrive' the filter.
