Seven Sound Engines

Korg have equipped the Grandstage 73 with seven individual sound engines, offering some of the most versatile tones available. The SGX-2 engine covers the lush, organic tones required by acoustic pianists of both traditional and modern styles. The Grandstage’s EP-1 section features six vintage electric pianos that cover the classic tones required by jazz, funk and soul musicians. The EP-1 benefits from MDS technology for a smoother transition into each sound. The organs are covered by CX-3, VOX and Compact engines, each producing individuality in its sound. These organ sounds benefit from an in-built rotary speaker effect system for the most authentic recreation.

Intuitive Interface

Live musicians will benefit from the Grandstage’s user-friendly interface system. This has been designed to offer musicians quick access, and edit and perform their favourite sounds on stage. The interface is split into two distinct sides for covering piano or synth based tones. Each control is labelled and features LEDs to distinctly show you what is presently being used. The LEDs are even present on the levels’ settings, enhancing the accuracy and allowing you to focus on the music. The Grandstage 73 Stage Piano benefits from a digital screen to display the specific tone setting you’re using.

RH3 Keyboard

The RH3 action keybed will become instantly familiar to acoustic and digital piano players alike. The keys have a real hammer action for the most organic and natural feel possible. Korg use a Premium Japanese Quality system to produce consistently stable keybeds with a smooth feel. The keyboard can also register fine details of your playing style for allowing each musician’s signature style to be captured and presented. This system uses progressive hammering with the lowest keys being heavier for the most authentic playability.

Useful Features

The Grandstage’s range of features allow musicians to achieve new levels of creativity. The recall button is essential for musicians who use very specific tones or samples, and can store up to 64 registrations. The ‘Dynamics’ knob sweeps through a range of EQ and compression settings so you can quickly achieve a rough estimate of your sound, which is ideal for quick tweaks between songs. This Grandstage 73 also has a layer/split feature to combine ensemble and keyboard voices. All the sounds are smoothly transitioned into each other by the advanced SST technology, ensuring that there aren’t any uncomfortable switches between tones.
