Mahogany Body & Spruce Top

The Dave Mustaine Mako Glory features mahogany back and sides that add a characterised warmth to its brightly toned spruce top. Used as back and side panels the mahogany delivers a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles. The mahogany back and sides are accompanied by a beautiful spruce top that delivers a broad dynamic range and crisp articulation. Spruce is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops as it generates a versatile sound and accommodates numerous playing styles, from aggressive to fingerpicking. The wood itself is quite elastic in nature, which resonates well whilst remaining strong, and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm midi-range, and bright sparkling highs.

Mahogany Neck & Ebony Fingerboard

To provide a comfortable playing experience, the Mako features a slim D shaped neck that has been constructed to the specs of Dave Mustaine. The D shaped neck provides the feel of an electric bass guitar and is ideal for those players transitioning between electric and acoustic. The Mako's neck is crafted from mahogany, offering great durability and resonance. The reason why many guitar necks are built from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. The neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard that adds a bright and sustained tone to the overall sound. Its ebony fingerboard also provides a smooth playing experience and is sprinkled with custom pearl Dave Mustaine inlays.

Florentine Cutaway

The Dean Mako Glory features a Florentine cutaway which offers an edgy appearance and enables players to explore with challenging chords. A Florentine cutaway comes into a sharp point, resulting in a horn-like shape. Its a complex design and more labor-intensive to craft than a Venetian because the guitar is originally built as a non-cutaway guitar. The cutaway feature provides access to higher chords and enables players to roam the full length of fingerboard with ease.

Fishman Isys+

The Dean Mako Glory comes equipped with a Fishman Isys+ preamp, making it ideal for the gigging musician. The Fishman preamp features rotary controls for volume, bass, and treble, enabling players to have full control of their tone. The Fishman Isys+ also has a phase button, a low battery indicator, a separate battery box, and the added convenience of an on-board tuner. The preamp has an easy read LED screen, making it easy to tune up or down in dark venues and environments.

Dean & Dave Mustaine Aesthetics

The Mako Glory has some distinctive decorative features that project an edgy and unique appearance. These decorative features include a distinctive shark gill-shaped sound-hole, complemented by Dave Mustaine's custom mother of pearl fingerboard makers and USA war torn flag graphic. Dave Mustaine's signature is situated on the truss rod cover and is part of an stunningly designed headstock. The headstock is graced with Dean's well-known brand logo and features sealed die cast machine heads in chrome which polishes off its appearance in true style.
