The ZOOM LiveTrak L-20: Mix, Monitor and Record
The Zoom L-20 LiveTrak is a 20-input digital console designed to let you mix a live performance and capture a studio-quality recording
Standalone digital audio recorders are the ideal solution for capturing live performances. They provide a rock-solid environment to work in, removing the complexity of using a computer to record with.
The Zoom L-20 LiveTrak is a brand-new multitrack recorder from ZOOM, providing 20 discrete audio channels for the biggest projects and the most complex arrangements. This LiveTrak provides everything you need to mix, monitor, and record large-scale productions.
Studio Quality Recording
Whether you wish to mix or record, the LiveTrak gives a wide range of options over the 20 discrete inputs (16 mono mic/line, 2 stereo inputs). Each channel features independent 3-band EQ, and the 16 mono inputs all feature stand-alone compression.
Every 1 of the 20 discrete inputs can be recorded directly to an SD card, plus an additional stereo track, taking the track count up to 22. The LiveTrak records pristine audio at 24-bit/96 kHz *, utilising some of ZOOM's "quietest and most advanced preamps ever".
Once you've completed your recording, you can create a mixdown internally or export to your DAW of choice to take your production even further.
Live Sound Mixing
The LiveTrak can provide 6 independent monitor mixes for musicians, with each output featuring its own custom mix complete with effects. The 6 mix outputs are switchable from a balanced line-level to a powerful headphone output level, letting your musicians get the perfect setup whether using headphones or stage monitor speakers.
An additional 7th output is also provided for your Front of House engineer; so they can simultaneously monitor the main mix and any of the sub-mixes. The LiveTrak is also capable of wireless mixing, via the free LiveTrak mobile app for iOS devices.
The LiveTrak features 2 EFX sends per channel, giving each channel access to any of the 20 built-in delay/reverb effects. The 16 mono channels also include their own single-knob compression, while a 3-band EQ on every channel lets you shape the sound with parametric EQ and a variable low-cut.
A range of combi inputs let you connect XLR and 1/4'' devices, while channels 1-2 offer Hi-Z inputs for direct connections to electric guitar and bass. Channels 17/18 and 19/20 features TS line connection for keyboards and other audio devices.
Each LiveTrak channel features a record-enable back-lit button, switchable between record and overdub modes so you always know exactly what state each channel is in. The LiveTrak's bright, LCD display and encoder knob gives clear visual feedback and an intuitive control over all the key functions. A built-in microphone is perfect for studio talk-back, while the metronome lets you get those recordings in perfect time.
Although the LiveTrak is designed to function as a standalone device, it also features a USB connection and can function as a 22-in/4-out USB audio interface with your DAW of choice. Audio can be independently routed to your computer, even as you record to an SD card. Class Compliant mode enables connection to iOS devices as well.
All in One
If you're seeking an all-in-one device for your large-scale recordings and live-sound projects, the LiveTrak looks like it has the perfect feature-set to make things much easier!
