Roland has announced two new digital accordions, in both red and black colour options, including the FR-4X (piano type) and FR-4Xb (button type). These latest additions to the acclaimed V-Accordion lineup offer a compact and lightweight instrument, with a sound engine derived from the flagship FR-8X.

Equipped with a wide range of traditional accordion sounds, 162 orchestral voices, 32 world class organs, as well as three onboard drum sounds, both accordions offer a versatile instrument. The FR-4X and FR-4XB also include many other noted V-Accordion features, including authentic playability with pressure-sensing bellows, sound expansion capability, built-in speakers, built-in effects, battery operation, USB song playback for jamming and much more.

Keeping up with tradition and heritage, both accordions are manufactured in Castelfidardo, Italy, a town noted as the international capital of accordion builders. In comparison, the FR-4X features 37 right-hand keys, while the FR-4XB has 92 right-hand buttons. Both models are also equipped with 120 left-hand buttons, along with bellows’ pressure-sensing circuitry that ensures fast response and high sensitivity.

As well as offering superb tones, both models are also equipped with four expansion slots, which allow users to load additional tone libraries, and Balkan and Dallape accordion expansions come pre-installed. Both models are also equipped with a powerful onboard audio system with two speakers and a tweeter, offering a big, full-range sound for intimate performances and larger gigs. Headphones can also be used for silent practicing without disturbing the neighbours.

Both models are powered via an included AC adapter, or with 10 AA batteries for on-the-go convenience, and also offer line out jacks for a direct connection to a PA or recorder, for the ultimate sound projection.

The FR-4X and FR-4XB are available in black or red, and will be in stock for December 2016
