Red Hot Chili Peppers unveil new guitar player

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have recruited Josh Klinghoffer as their new electric guitar player.
Although no official announcement has yet been made by the group, the new appointment has been widely reported in the press.
Klinghoffer will replace former guitarist John Frusciante, who recently confirmed that he had left the long-running band, whose hits include Californication, The Zephyr Song and By The Way.
Electric guitar manufacturer Gibson has joked that the role of guitarist in the rock group is becoming akin to playing drums with spoof rockers Spinal Tap.
"It's a precarious job with no promise of a future," it stated.
Frusciante enjoyed a three-year stint with the Chili Peppers between 1989 and 1992 before quitting, although he rejoined in 1998 and helped the band through something of a renaissance.
Indeed, their 2002 album By The Way produced five hit singles, while their double album Stadium Arcadium won a Grammy Award in 2006.
