Police have urged people to keep expensive items out of sight after an electric guitar player had £1,500 worth of equipment stolen from his car.

Ollie Pearson had a Fender Telecaster and several guitar effects pedals taken from his vehicle several weeks ago.

Mr Pearson was only reunited with his gear after he spotted some of his possessions being sold on a trading website and contacted the police.

The incident has prompted Devon and Cornwall Police to urge people not to display valuable items, particularly in the run-up to the festive season.

"Christmas is fast approaching and shoppers will no doubt have presents in their vehicles," said DC Tobie Carter.

Speaking to the Express and Echo, Mr Pearson added that not having his Fender Telecaster and other equipment was "terrible", as he plays gigs every week.

The man responsible for the theft has since been jailed for the crime.

This comes shortly after Noah and the Whale had all their gear, including a Fender Telecaster and a Gibson Les Paul, stolen from their trailer while on tour.
