Newton Faulkner reveals guitar playing fears after hand injury
Folk singer Newton Faulkner has revealed that he was worried about whether he would still be able to play the acoustic guitar properly after breaking his arm and dislocating his hand last year.
The musician had slipped on some ice while on holiday in France and told the Edinburgh Evening News that the accident led to some dark days.
"It was terrifying, because I knew it was a possibility that I wouldn't be able to play the guitar in the same way again," he said.
Faulkner explained that he had taken inspiration by listening to the music of Django Reinhardt a musician who only has two working fingers on one of his hands.
"He has very few fingers on his fretting hand and he's about the best guitarist ever," Faulkner explained.
The acoustic guitar player added that he was determined to pick up an instrument again, no matter what the extent of his injuries were.
Faulkner is to embark on a UK tour next week that will take in dates in cities such as Manchester, Cardiff and London.Posted on 1 Mar 2010 07:50 to category : Instruments News
