NAMM 2020 | Sequential Launches Pro 3 Hybrid Synth
NAMM 2020 | Sequential has announced its new flagship mono/paraphonic hybrid synthesizer, the Sequential Pro 3.
The Pro 3 is a brand-new mono/paraphonic synthesizer from Sequential. Building on the successes of the Pro 1 and Pro 2, this hybrid synth blends the best of vintage and modern technology with three vintage analog filters, three oscillators, digital effects, and a new 16-track sequencer for incredible versatility.
Hybrid synthesizer – the best of old and new
The new Sequential Pro 3 is a hybrid of old-school synthesis and modern digital technology. To make it as versatile an instrument as possible, Sequential has given the Pro 3 three oscillators (two VCOs and one wavetable), three vintage filters (Prophet-6, OB-6, and ladder), three LFOs, four loopable envelopes, a huge 32-slot mod matrix, and a 16 x 16 x 4 sequencer. Sequential has aimed to “pack as much power as possible into a compact footprint and made it sound awesome”.
The Pro 3 also features a multimode arpeggiator, three LFOs, four loopable ASDR delay envelopes, digital effects (including delays, reverbs, and more), tuned feedback, analog distortion, and modulation effects.
A super flexible synth setup
The Pro 3’s LFOs, delays and arpeggiator all have the potential to be synced with the internal clock or external MIDI source, and users will be able to easily connect modular gear via four voltage-controlled inputs/outputs. Control Voltages are routed internally from within the modulation matrix. “We wanted to make the Pro 3 as flexible as possible,” says Smith. “The CVs and deep mod matrix make it a mini modular in its own right — without all the patch cables.”
Expressive performance capabilities
While the Pro 3 was designed to be a powerful monosynth, it is also a versatile 3-voice paraphonic synth. 3-note chords can be played, or users can experiment with the creative use of effects - even setting independent modulations per oscillator.
The inclusion of a three-octave, semi-weighted keyboard with velocity, aftertouch, pitch/mod wheels, and touch slider, makes the Pro 3 an even more expressive instrument, and perhaps one of the most exciting synths to be launched at The NAMM Show this year.
