Moog Subsequent 25

Moog has just announced the Subsequent 25 in advance of The NAMM Show. Designed on the same platform as the award-winning Sub Phatty, the Subsequent 25 is a 2-note paraphonic synthesizer which blends the hands-on experience of using an analog synth with the modern convenience of a computer workflow.

Analog meets digital

Blending the best of analog and digital technologies, the Subsequent 25 allows users to get hands-on with analog synthesis, as well as connecting to a computer for editing parameters and saving presets.

The Subsequent 25 also includes a range of expertly created presets, so new users will find a plethora of inspirational sounds to use straight out the box.

Compact power

The new Subsequent 25 is Moog’s most compact keyboard synthesizer. It’s built on the same platform as the Sub Phatty, which in itself was Nominated for the TEC Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement.

Despite its small size, this new synth has the power to fill any room with powerful synth bass, dynamic analog percussion, and harmonic-rich leads.

Hands-on control

The top panel features a single knob per function, letting you get thoroughly hands-on with your music. Three oscillators are available in Unison Mode, or users can choose to split Oscillators 1 & 2 in Duo Mode allowing you to play two notes at once. The analog sound engine can be triggered by the built-in fast-action keybed, external voltage-controlled gear (with 4 CV inputs), or via MIDI.

The Subsequent 25 features the same transformative Multidrive circuit as the Sub Phatty, offering a combination of OTA distortion and FET drive to create a huge sound. You’ll also find a Mixer Section and Ladder Filter to a wide range of classic and modern tones.

Software connectivity

A key feature of the original Sub Phatty was the ability to connect to your computer via a free software editor. The Subequent 25 features this same connectivity, allowing users to make the seamless integration of an analog synth with DAW control. Once connected, users can manage and share presets, edit parameters, and much more.

The Subsequent 25 features full MIDI integration via USB/DIN MIDI, allowing you to edit and recall all front-panel or under-the-hood parameters. A DAW can automate all parameters, bring an array of possibilities for your music making.

Building Your World

To celebrate the launch of the Subseqeuent 25, Moog Music collaborated with prolific producer Flying Lotus and graphic designer Julian House to create an animated film, Building Your World.

Scored by Flying Lotus, this film puts the Subsequent 25 to the test and shows viewers a glimpse into the mysterious world of analog circuits and waveforms.

This film takes the Sub Phatty’s life full circle, following on from the 2013 film New Machine For Living which was also scored by Flying Lotus and released at the launch of the Sub Phatty.
