NAMM 2020 | EVH has released an iconic signature guitar based on Eddie Van Halen’s original Frankenstein – introducing the EVH Striped Series Frankie

When no other guitar would do, Eddie Van Halen had to create his own. Eddie’s “Frankenstein” has become an icon in its own right, so EVH has deemed that now is the time to make this special guitar available “with a price tag the everyday musician can afford.”

The EVH Striped Frankie comes with Eddie’s famed white-and-black paint job, along with a relic’d aesthetic that gives it the look of a truly played-in guitar. And while it may look like a vintage instrument that’s been through many battles on stage, look beneath the surface and you’ll find a thoroughly modern specification, built to shred.

The EVH Frankie includes a basswood body with graphite-reinforced maple neck. The neck is finished with oil for a sumptuous playing feel, while the compound radius ensures a balanced playing feel across the fingerboard.

Other features include an EVH Wolfgang humbucker bridge pickup with a dummy neck pickup, as well as a dummy 5-way pickup selector – just like Eddie’s original guitar.

A Floyd Rose locking trem and locking nut gives the tuning reliability needed for extreme whammy bar tricks, while the EVH D-Tuna allows you to drop the low E-string to a different pitch at the flick of a switch.

Fans of Van Halen will find this to be the ultimate tribute guitar. Updated with a modern playing specification, the EVH Striped Frankie can keep up with the best of today’s hot-rodded guitars, and this instrument is surely one of the most eye-catching.
