NAMM 2019 | The Yamaha AvantGrand N1X Digital Piano Offers a "Real Grand Piano Experience"
The new Yamaha N1X is here to join the NU1X (upright) and N3X in the updated range of "X"-model AvantGrand digital hybrid pianos. The new N1X takes the already-premium N1 to the next level with even more immersive audio, a super-realistic playing response, and enhanced connectivity.
The AvantGrand N1X is the latest premium digital hybrid piano to join the AvantGrand family by Yamaha. With a real grand piano action and the pristine, digitally-captured sounds of Yamaha and Bösendorfer Concert grand pianos, the N1X provides the best of acoustic and digital technologies for a truly immersive experience.
New for NAMM 2019, the N1X builds on its predecessor - the AvantGrand N1 - with a new damper pedal, enhanced digital sampling technologies, and greatly expanded connectivity. This set of updates adds to the plethora of technology which is inherent in the AvantGrand family, including the real keyboard mechanism from a grand piano and the superior sound of two world-class acoustic grand pianos.
New Damper Pedal
The N1X features a damper pedal which authentically replicates the pedal response of an acoustic grand piano. Players can now perform expressive half-pedal techniques for precise control over sustain and reverberation.
Enhanced Sampling Technology
Yamaha has also included its latest Virtual Resonance Modelling (VRM) technology in the N1X, reproducing the complex ways in which piano strings interact with one another. This technology replicates the enhanced subtleties of a real acoustic grand piano, giving a complex sound and even more immersive playing experience.
Yamaha's VRM technology is used in combination with Spatial Acoustic Sampling - a process that captures the sound of an acoustic piano from four different positions for a hyper-realistic sound. The N1X projects these tones with a Spatial Acoustic Speaker System - a 3-way setup which also conveys the natural resonance of a soundboard.
While the Spatial Acoustic Speaker System creates a natural tone in the room, users wearing headphones will now benefit from Binaural Sampling Technology (CFX Grand Voice only). This technology captures the sound of a piano from the natural position of the listener's ears, meaning you can put your headphones on and be fully immersed in a realistic acoustic environment. As Yamaha says, " The resulting sound is so natural, so enveloping, that you’ll soon forget you’re even wearing headphones at all."
The N1X features enhanced connectivity options. It can be connected directly to computers and mobile devices via USB, sound and recording systems via audio cables, act as a Bluetooth receiver, and integrate with iOS apps via WiFi.
As well as the aforementioned technologies, the N1X features an improved cabinet design compared to its predecessor. New svelte contours mimic the way a grand piano is constructed, giving even more of a premium feel to whatever room you situate this instrument.
Grand by Name - Grand by Nature
The result of these updates is an affordable (comparatively-speaking) digital hybrid piano in the AvantGrand series with even more grand piano-realism. New connectivity options and hyper-realistic sounds provide the power and convenience of cutting-edge digital technologies, while the expert Yamaha know-how in acoustic piano design gives the N1X the real feel and response of a grand piano. If you're looking for the best of both digital and acoustic worlds, the N1X is the perfect place to look.
