Yamaha has released several new models in the CSVR Clarinet range, including the Yamaha CSVR-ASP and the Yamaha CSVRA-ASP clarinets. These Atelier Special instruments extend the appeal of the CSVR series to the very top level of performers and are designed for the most demanding players.

The 2015 Custom CSVR clarinets sparked a refresh of the Yamaha range of clarinets, and these new Special ASP models take those redesigns even further. Players who need a premium level of expressiveness and nuance will appreciate the new developments that has gone into this series.

'Atelier Special' refers to Yamaha's Artist Services Inc. (YASI). On the 11th floor Band and Orchestral Atelier in New York City, U.S.A, is a showroom and custom shop for instruments in the brass and woodwind family. It offers virtuoso orchestral musicians unique customizations, quick repairs and previews of prototype professional instruments.

The whole CSVR-ASP line is designed to be consistent in its manufacture, meaning every single instrument will feature the same professional-grade sound and feel. "It used to be that consumers would test many different units of the same model of clarinet just to find ‘a good one.’ Not anymore, " says Brian Petterson, wind instruments marketing manager at Yamaha Corporation of America.

The new range feature tenon metal rings for improved definition and projection; a new Eb level for a smoother key action; a refined key shape for an ergonomic position for the A and register keys; an optional low note correction key which prevents low F and E notes from sounding flat; and left-hand F/C key screw linkage which improves playing feel and reduces wear.

The CSVR range includes the Yamaha CSVR-ASP Atelier Bb Clarinet, Yamaha CSVR-ASP Atelier A Clarinet, Yamaha CSVRL-ASP Atelier Bb Clarinet (with Correction Key) and the Yamaha CSVRL-ASP Atelier A Clarinet (with Correction Key).

Each instrument comes complete with two barrels (65mm and 66mm) for the optimum pitch-matching, along with a traditional case and multifunction case built to the highest standards. If you're seeking the very top level of clarinet and want a guaranteed high-performance instrument across the series, the new CSVR Atalier Specials are well worth further inspection.
