Musikmesse 2018: The Digiface Dante and AVB Complete the Digiface Interface Family
RME has launched 3 new interfaces including the RME Digiface AVB USB Clock Network Monitor, the RME Digiface Dante USB Interface and the RME ADI-2 Pro FS USB Audio Interface. The 2017 RME Digiface Dante USB Interface now has AVB and Dante-equipped siblings to complete the Digiface family.
The RME Digiface Dante USB Interface is a bus-powered USB 3.0 interface which allows the transmission of up to 64 Dante channels and 64 MADI channels. The Dante protocol is based on audio-over-IP and was developed by Australian company Audinate to provide super-low latency. The protocol's strength lies in its ability to transmit uncompressed digital audio signals over long distances. The Digiface Dante is a compact and lightweight solution for Dante users who need a mobile device.
The Digiface Dante includes RME's stable Mac and Windows MADI delivers, which enable 64 MADI I/O channels. The BNC connectors (normally used for word clock) can be set to operate with MADI and allow 128 complete channels to be routed and fully controlled using the included Dante control software and the DSP-based RME TotalMix FX mixer.
RME has also released the RME ADI-2 Pro FS USB Audio Interface to join the RME ADI-2 AD/DA converter family. This updated version of the ADI-2 includes RME's new 'femtosecond' clock, alongside the AutoDark mode (all illuminated controls auto-off - introduced on the acclaimed ADI-2 DAC) and the comprehensive features of the RME ADI-2 Pro.
The ADI-2 Pro FS combines the functions from several devices into one unit; it is a high-end AD/DA converter, a dual headphone amplifier, a multi-format converter, a DSD recording and playback converter, and a front end for audio measurements with up to 768 kHz sample frequency.
The femtosecond technology enables an incredibly accurate jitter rejection system, using a femtosecond (one quadrillionth of a second) resolution.
The RME Digiface AVB USB Clock Network Monitor uses the AVB (Audio Video Bridging) standard to enable the transmission of up to 256 network audio channels between a Windows computer and another AVB device via a single USB 3.0 cable. It uses the IEEE 820.1 protocol and can operate with up to 192kHz sample rates, selectable from 2 to 32 channels for maximum device compatibility in the audio and video market. The AVB USB also features a word clock I/O, a headphone output for high-quality monitoring, and the DSP-based TotalMix FX mixer with its comprehensive monitoring and routing options. The additional AVDECC controller provides instant detection of all AVB devices within a network, and lets you manage and monitor all the signal streams.
RME is no stranger to the latest technology, and it constantly pushes at the barriers of what portable devices can achieve. These latest Digiface interfaces deliver the most current audio innovations for forward-looking musicians and engineers.
