Music industry honours Hank Marvin
Electric guitar legend Hank Marvin has been honoured by his peers in the music industry with a special award.
The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (Basca) this week staged its Gold Badge Awards event to recognise professionals such as publicists, songwriters and producers.
Marvin, whose hits include The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt, FBI, Apache and The Savage, was among those to be handed a gong at the ceremony.
The Fender Stratocaster player was honoured for influencing a whole generation of world-conquering British musicians.
"It's very flattering to win an award from your peers who you hope recognise talent rather than fame," he told the Guardian.
The Shadows are currently undertaking a reunion tour with Cliff Richard, playing hits such as Move It and The Young Ones to mark 50 years in the business.
Other names to be honoured by Basca at the ceremony included Phil Coulter and Bill Martin, who wrote many famous songs including Sandie Shaw's Puppet on a String.Posted on 30 Oct 2009 11:22 to category : Band / Celebrity News
