Adele and Jessie J's talents with the microphone are being appreciated around the world.
The songstresses are the latest in a long line of British artists to achieve success abroad, following the example of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and more recently Leona Lewis.
And it is not just the artists who are revelling in the success of British music, the public are taking pride in the fact that UK music is being appreciated and applauded all round the world.
A recent Ipsos MORI poll revealed that 83 per cent of the public believe British music's achievements are something which they can look upon with pride.
Geoff Taylor, chief executive of BPI, said: "Britons are rightly proud of the fact that we are global leaders in music.
"Overseas success not only generates jobs and export income, it fosters a positive reputation for Britain around the world."
During 2010 one-in-five of the top 50 selling records released around the world featured British artists.
Success has been particularly strong in the US market, which was underlined by Brits holding the top three positions in the US Billboard Chart in March, for the first time in 25 years.
