Johnny Marr honours Les Paul
The former Smiths guitarist said describing him as an innovator would be a huge understatement, as he made a major contribution to the world of rock and roll.
Speaking to Channel 4 News, Marr stated that Les Paul made an "incredible difference" to the genre during his lifetime.
"If you are lucky enough to have some serious guitars, it is something you have got to have," he commented.
Marr added that owning a Les Paul was a long-standing aspiration for him, along with the lines of owning a classic car such as Ferrari or a Bentley.
This follows similar tributes from U2 star The Edge, who said Les Paul disproved the cliché that a person can only be famous for one thing.
He stated that his legacy as a musician and inventor would endure, adding that his influence on rock music would never be forgotten.Posted on 17 Aug 2009 13:00 to category : Instruments News
