John Cale: No Velvet Underground reunion planned
Velvet Underground's bass guitar player John Cale has said there will be no reunion of the band.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Cale revealed that although the group had been asked to get back together, there were no plans to do so.
"Anyone who wants to reform the Velvet Underground for a series of concerts, to make some money, I understand that, but you can't do that," the bass guitar player said.
He added that he felt such a move would be a "cynical" one, especially as one of the group's founding members, electric guitar player Sterling Morrison, is no longer alive.
Cale added that he is keen to perform as a solo artist at Glastonbury Festival this year.
In a separate interview with the Independent this weekend, the bass guitar player explained that problems started to occur in the Velvet Underground following arguments about who got copyrights over songs the band wrote together.Posted on 1 Mar 2010 18:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News
