Guitar Maintenance: Floyd Rose Tremolo String Changing

  1. Unlock the three bolts at the nut (located at the top of the neck near the headstock) with the 3mm allen wrench provided with the guitar or bridge.

  1. Set the fine-tuners (2) on the bridge to the middle of there tuning range.

  2. Change one string at a time (starting at either E string) by first loosening the string and unclamping it at the saddle (3) with the 3mm allen wrench. Cut the ball off the string with a pair of wire cutters.

  3. Place the freshly cut string end into the center of the saddle and tighten the clamping screw until it is difficult to turn.

  4. Thread the other end of the string under its nut clamp (located at the top of the neck near the headstock) and under the string hold down bar, then to the tuning key and tune the string. Pull on the string until it is tight around the tuning key and re-tune. Repeat steps 2 -5 for every string, then check tuning of every string.

  5. Re-clamp the three bolts on the neck near the headstock to secure the strings.

  6. Check your tuning once again making any adjustments this time with your fine-tuners only.
