Gibson names favourite Beatles tracks

Electric guitar manufacturer Gibson has named some of its favourite Beatles songs following the re-release of the Fab Four's back catalogue.

The Fab Four were keen fans of the company's products during their career, with Gibson SGs for example featuring prominently on records such as Paperback Writer.

Gibson hailed the track as an opportunity for George Harrison to "flex his guitar muscle", with his slightly distorted sound adding a "nice counterbalance" to the main melody.

The b-side Rain was also singled out for praise, with Harrison's "tough but tender" performance on his Gibson SG making it one of the band's most "timeless" songs.

Gibson also named tracks such as Day Tripper, Something and While My Guitar Gently Weeps as favourites, although it admitted it was difficult to come up with a definitive list.

"The Beatles had a long relationship with Gibson guitars and it wasn't easy picking just a few standout moments when the two icons came together," it commented.

Meanwhile, readers of MusicRadar have voted A Day in the Life as their favourite Beatles song, ahead of classics such as Hey Jude and Strawberry Fields Forever.
