Freshman Amps Praised Again
Freshman is well known for producing high-quality acoustic guitars at affordable prices.
The company has recently turned to making a range of acoustic amplifiers.
A mid-range Freshman amp, the AC30R and the top end AC60R have recently received praise from both Playmusic Pickup and Acoustic Magazine.
Playmusic Pickup took a look at the AC30R a 30 Watt amplifier with twin speakers, separate EQ, chorus and delay, and inputs for a guitar, microphone and an AUX device such as an MP3 player for example.
The AC30R also has a built in 'notch filter' which allows the musician to isolate and cut out any frequency within the 60Hz - 1KHz bandwidth (a very useful feature to help cut feedback).
Playmusic Pickup Magazine's reviewer was impressed with the AC30R - especially how the effects mixed with the overall sound of the amp.
Furthermore, the reviewer commented: "It's good to note that even without the effects engaged the Freshman still delivers a powerful sound that is transparent enough to convey the personality of your instrument while having the necessary guts to push your guitar and/or vocal well to the fore."
"Combine all this with the price and you've got a very convincing package indeed."
Acoustic Magazine were looking at the most powerful and expensive of Freshman's amplifier range - the AC60R.
The AC60R is a 60 watt transistor combo amplifier with two guitar channels (each with treble and bass controls), XLR and AUX inputs, plus chorus, reverb and the same impressive notch filter found on the AC30R.
The Acoustic Magazine's reviewer was impressed with the tone of the AC60R and wrote that it delivered "attention grabbing quality in spades".
In summary, the reviewer commented:
"Simply, the AC60R is a lot of amp for the money. It's loud, punchy, sounds great, and for a solo artist will be your PA in most places you might need one."
