Foo Fighters Greatest Hits album 'is premature'
Electric guitar player Dave Grohl has revealed that the Foo Fighters tried to put off releasing a Greatest Hits album for as long as possible.
The rockers issued a 16-track compilation of their hit singles earlier this week, which also contains two brand new tracks.
However, Grohl has told BBC Radio 1 that they spent about four years trying to stop the record company issuing the album, but in the end were contractually obliged to do so.
"We wrote it into a deal a long time ago - that's how it works," he commented.
Grohl stated that a Greatest Hits album can sometimes look like an obituary.
As a result, he believes releasing a Greatest Hits album is "premature" because the Foo Fighters are still an active and functioning band.
Grohl will shortly be issuing brand new material with his sideline project Them Crooked Vultures, in which he plays the drum kit.
He is joined by Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin on bass guitar.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 12:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
