Cat Power 'planning to play every instrument on new record'
Singer Cat Power has spoken about her ambitious plans to play every musical instrument on her new album.
The musician, whose real name is Chan Marshall, told Rolling Stone that she wanted to put things right after being less involved musically with her past few records.
"I was inspired by being disappointed in myself that I'd just been holding the microphone and I was disappointed in myself that I hadn't been playing an instrument," she explained as her reason for attempting to play all the instruments on her next album.
The performer added that she wanted to prove she could have a relationship with musical instruments again.
But she did not confirm a release date for her next record, which is a follow-up to Jukebox, an album which came out in 2008.
Cat Power is set to play three dates in the US later this month, performing in Seattle and the Californian locations of Santa Cruz and Napa.
