Casio announced its first electronic keyboard in 1980 – the Casiotone CT-201. Since then, Casio has become a pioneer of digital keyboard and piano technology. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced musician, there's a perfect Casio piano or keyboard for you. Read on to find out more.

Casio – the beginning

Today, we take it for granted that many devices can produce fantastic instrument sounds - even our phones!

However, in 1980 this was unheard of, and Casio wanted to give people the chance to explore the sounds of different instruments from a single keyboard.

To do this, Casio’s co-founder Toshio Kashio developed the technology of vowel-consonant synthesis. With the Casiotone CT-201, he created the sound of 29 instruments using digital technology. The world would never be the same again!

After the CT-201, Casio continued to develop compact digital keyboards that could actively help musicians learn. Casio's philosophy was to make music available to more people than ever before - proving you didn't need large, bulky, and expensive instruments.

The next step

Casio introduced its first synthesizer (the CZ-101) in 1984 and continued to pioneer digital technology.

In the decades that followed, Casio explored compact keyboards, natural piano sounds, sampling technology, digital pianos with realistic hammer-action keys, educational keyboards, and an ever-increasing range of digital instruments.

Casio - today

Today, Casio’s main product families cover the full range of piano and keyboard styles and technologies.

With a 40-year heritage, every new Casio instrument is backed by a plethora of experience, built on tried-and-tested technologies while simultaneously expanding the limits of what can be achieved.

Casio is a household name, and that's testament to the decades of time spent pushing the boundaries of technology, bringing music to more people than ever before.
