Bono admits he was 'sick with nerves' ahead of U2's Glastonbury performance
People have come to expect that the mighty U2 are too successful and popular to suffer from stage fright, but that was anything but the case as the band took to the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.
Frontman Bono told the BBC that he was "sick with nerves" as he waited in the wings before launching into an amazing set that was worth the long wait.
It was the first time ever the band had played at the festival. They were meant to perform last year only for it to be cancelled after Bono suffered a back injury.
"I wanted to throw up. Whenever you see me giving up a lot of attitude that means I'm terrified. I felt like I was going to retch at the side of the stage," he told the BBC.
You wouldn't have thought it as the band delivered a raucous performance of their greatest hits from Sunday Bloody Sunday to Where the Streets Have No Name and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.
There was also a very special a cappella version of Jerusalem, which saw the rest of the band put down their music instruments as Bono sang away.
