Black Flag's Founding Member to Sue FLAG
It's been revealed that Ginn, recording and touring under the Black Flag name, has filed a suit against the members of FLAG for unapproved use of the Black Flag name and logo on their current tour.
Hailed as America's first hardcore band, the current Black Flag reformed in January this year, with the line-up including Ginn, former vocalist Ron Reyes, drummer Gregory Moore and Dave Klein on bass.
Founding member Greg Ginn, who formed the band in 1976 when the lineup included Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski and Brian Migdol, has described the splinter group's use of logo as "a colorable imitation", stating that it could cause confusion amongst fans.
Two of the earliest members of Black Flag, Morris (most recently from OFF!) and Dukowski, are touring as FLAG alongside Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton. In 2007, a settlement was reached where Dukowski agreed to never perform under the Black Flag name.
