Bands need diverse influences, say Muse
Muse's electric guitar player has stressed the need for bands to listen to a wide range of musical styles.
Matt Bellamy stated that he does not understand groups who are only influenced by a narrow era of music.
Speaking to the Telegraph, he said the fact that Muse have incorporated a variety of influences into their music is one of their biggest assets.
However, he said younger bands do now tend to listen to more diverse music than in the past, as it has become so easily accessible.
Bellamy noted that while some groups are more concerned with what is in vogue and fashionable, "it's never been the most important thing for us".
Bass guitar player Chris Wolstenhome added that Muse have an eye on becoming the biggest band in the world.
"We're not ashamed to say that," he commented.
Muse have already drawn high praise from a number of rock luminaries in recent months, including Queen's electric guitar player Brian May and Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi.Posted on 19 Nov 2009 10:42 to category : Band / Celebrity News
