Apogee MiC Plus Brings Pro-Quality USB Recordings to iOS Devices / Laptops
The Apogee MiC Plus is a significant upgrade to the original MiC product range introduced in 2011. It brings studio-grade USB recording to iOS compatible devices and laptops in a highly portable unit.
The MiC Plus is a USB cardioid condenser microphone that is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. It also contains a preamp and an A/D converter within its small chassis and can deliver album-quality recordings to your recording device without the need for an additional interface. It does this via its PureDIGITAL connection which guarantees pristine fidelity up to 24-bit / 96kHz.
The plug-and-play compatibility of the MiC Plus means that on-the-go field recording is possible with nothing more than a phone or iOS device; this is ideal for video bloggers or touring musicians. The microphone capsule features 46dB of preamp gain and is sensitive enough to record all sorts of instrumental and vocal performances; no matter when the inspiration catches you, it seems that the MiC Plus will be the ideal tool for making instant high-quality recordings.
The MiC Plus also features a headphone preamp for direct zero-latency monitoring, along with a headphone amplifier to match ambient noise levels when recording loud instruments. Its handy tripod stand gives voice-over artists and musicians a ready-to-go platform with no lengthy setups.
Apogee is no stranger to pro-level audio recording and compact interfaces. From the JAM Guitar Interface through to the ONE USB Audio Interface and Microphone, they have constantly pushed at the limits of what portable devices can achieve. The MiC Plus continues this development and for the first time, offers true studio-grade microphone recording in a USB enabled device. It requires no additional converters or interfaces and radically simplifies the production of great recordings; it will be a very popular device.
In Apogee’s own words…
“MiC Plus’ professional-quality cardioid capsule, high sensitivity and ample gain give it a sound that is similar to a top studio condenser microphone going through a high-end mic preamp. Your listeners will never know that you are recording with a portable USB microphone.” - Apogee
