Aerosmith recording 'stone cold'
Aerosmith don't prepare anything before going into the studio to make their new record.
The 'Walk This Way' group are currently working on their 15th album at the home recording studio of producer Marti Frederiksen, and guitarist Brad Whitford said their new system has been a revelation.
He said: "We basically go in the studio, just stone cold, and try to come out at the end of the day with another song, and so far it's worked great. It has been great working at Marti's. His whole house is basically geared toward making music, so that's what we are doing all day long."
Although frontman Steven Tyler is juggling his work in Aerosmith with his commitments as a judge on the new series of Us TV show 'American Idol', Brad is not worried about it affecting the band, and actually thinks the show will introduce the rockers to a whole new audience.
He explained to the Boston Herald: "I think he's a great choice for 'Idol'. I always told him he should be a stand-up comedian because he's one of the funniest guys I've ever known in my life.
"It's going to expand our audience, for sure. People who would never think about seeing Aerosmith might change their minds after seeing him on TV."
"It's nice to be touching people much, much younger than we are. It's kind of cool to see how they react to it. And I can say we are all looking forward to some new Aerosmith music."
Steven - who is also joined in the band by bassist Tom Hamilton, guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Joey Kramer - has previously revealed he hopes to release the record before the end of the year and Brad thinks this could be possible.
He said: "A lot will depend on how much we get done this week and when we can get back together again to sort of finalise it. Hopefully, we will be listening to it sometime this year."Posted on 2 Feb 2011 06:30 to category : Music News
