Design Features

The violin's oval shaped neck features a thin layer of specially formulated finish, resulting in a natural feel similar to an acoustic model. To accommodate a wider range of chin and shoulder rests, Yamaha has extended the frame further. To isolate and control the violins upper harmonics, a special circuit has been designed for the model, ensuring an enhanced overall tone and sound. The violins ability to change between hard or soft tonal colours, enables it to perform many playing styles. The SV200 uses a two pickup system which results in twice as much resolution for an enhanced dynamic range. The pickups are attached under the legs of the bridge to improve the resolution. The resolution enables the violin to respond to very subtle nuances so the players can perform with clarity and ease.

Ebony Fingerboard

Ebony is a popular wood, known best for the clear, crisp attacks it is capable of producing. This wood is generally much brighter than maple and features a similar density. Ebony also features oilier pores than maple and extra brittle grains, resulting in a tight grain that doesn't require any finish. This quality gives the fingerboard a natural smooth, quick playing ability favored by many professionals. Although there are many types of wood used to create fingerboards ebony is the darkest of them all. The wood works effectively throughout the instrument's range and is reliable for years.
