Engine DJ 2.0 Engine – the latest and greatest
The latest firmware update is here, bringing with it onboard lighting control for standalone devices, wireless Ableton Link connectivity and a whole host more! With every update, your Denon hardware evolves and with Engine DJ 2.0 you’re at the forefront of DJ technology. The OS 2.0 engine now includes Ableton Link connectivity for all Engine DJ OS compatible devices – available via WiFi or a wired connection. This makes Denon the world’s first manufacturer to incorporate Ableton Link into standalone DJ hardware.
Building on the success of SoundSwitch, Denon have created their own custom lighting control in the form of ‘Engine Lighting’. This new OS embedded lighting control is accessible directly from your hardware, eliminating the need for external controllers or connecting to a computer. You can connect to the onboard lighting control via DMX for DJs on the move or via the Phillips Hue System if you’re at home.
The new and improved database has been recoded from the ground up, providing a lightning-fast workflow, smaller database sizes and improved stability. The control for streaming services has also been expanded with Preview, Prepare, History and Playlist Deck parameters you can use to audition and navigate between songs in your online music library.
What's new in Engine DJ 2.2
Continually seeking to improve the user experience and functionality of your performances, Engine DJ 2.2 introduces a range of new features and fixes to the most powerful DJ software available. Introducing Active Loops, an intelligent way to save loops and automatically activate them when your playhead enters the loop region, allowing you to recall your favourite sections in an instant. As simple as pressing hold your left Parameter button and saving to a pad, it couldn't be easier to instantly recall your Active Loops. More accurate performing is enabled through the increased Jog Wheel sensitivity, with a reduced sensitivity level named 'Min'. Perfect for intricate performances, this can be saved as a default setting to your Engine DJ device for automatic loading along with Nudge sensitivity in your User Profile.
Now featuring a built-in metronome with three volume levels, you can map the beats of your songs with even more accuracy, with the metronome playing every time your playhead passes a beat marker. Improved light arrangements are possible through the ability to invert pan and tilt your moving head DMX light fixtures in the Engine Lightning section of your software. A range of connection options
The Prime 2 offers three USB and SD inputs to play your music from. This is ideal when multiple DJ’s are playing, allowing for seamless changes between sets. As if that wasn’t enough, the Prime 2 also features a built-in 2.5 inch HDD bay for loading huge music collections into the console. All these source inputs can be used to record your set, even the source currently streaming the audio from. This captures every detail of your set, including track hot-cues, loops and performance parameters for quick recall at a later date.

In a world of streaming, the Prime 2 helps put over 60 million songs at your fingertips. The Prime 2 can be connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data to stream music directly from Tidal. This is accessed via the variety of connectivity options located on the Prime 2. The Prime 2 controller also features a StagelinQ connection which can control SoundSwitch lighting, Resolume video and TimeCode software. This makes it easy to sync your music to mobile and mainstage lighting setup, helping turn a standard DJ set into a professional production.
Make your mix stand out
The Prime 2 has all the tools you’ll need to create a performance to remember including two-line faders, contour-controlled crossfader and 6-inch capacitive touch jog wheels with HD colour displays. These detail the song/DJ artwork and loop/track information. Combined with the expressive 3-band EQ, you can edit, shape and blend audio to your heart's content. To go one step further, utilise Prime 2’s dual FX mode and filter control to add effects and modulation.

The Prime 2 puts control at your fingertips with eight, ultra-responsive trigger pads (per channel) for hot-cues, loops, beat rolls and slicing; just about every parameter you can think of. No need to use your line faders, the Prime 2 offers dual independent, level-controlled microphone channels. These are accessed via XLR-1/4-inch combo inputs. The talk over feature makes full use of this by automatically adjusting the level, allowing you to make your big announcement.

Making sure your performance goes uninterrupted is Denon DJ’s ENGINE OS. This allows every component to operate at its best, meaning you can concentrate on your performance. The software can be frequently updated, ensuring you are always up to date in the DJing world. You will also gain access to the ENGINE PRIME library software. This is your one-stop music library and set prep tool, connecting seamlessly to other popular music collection resources. Using just the Prime 2, you are also able to import a full Rekordbox collection straight from the media source. This is then internally analysed within the Prime 2 unit.
