The Gypsy Ash features a grand auditorium body shape with a cutaway design, and is built to deliver a well-rounded sound. The shape is perfect for those who like to write, record, or perform, as it is good quality, a well-balanced instrument, and very comfy to sit with for long periods of time. The auditorium shape allows players to get bigger sound projection, extra bass, and mid-range tones that smaller bodied guitars just can't deliver. If you're looking for a guitar that is bigger than a tenor size, with standard fret scale, and a bit more in the bass section, then the Luna Gypsy Ash is perfect for you.
The Gypsy Ash features a spruce top, a mahogany neck, mahogany back and sides, and walnut fingerboard, delivering warmth, a bright midi-range, and a thick well defined tone perfect for many playing styles. Mahogany is used a lot in the acoustic world because it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with, and resonant. The organic nature of mahogany makes each Luna guitar uniquely different, you will find each guitar has a slightly unique tone to one another and this has become signature of Luna guitars. Mahogany contains distinct character of a soft warmth, but is well balanced with a bite of its own.
The mahogany neck is topped with a walnut fingerboard that delivers a warm, bright, and sparkly tone that really shines through when using finger picking techniques. The neck is specially designed by Luna to ensure a comfortable playing experience that puts challenging notes and chords within easy reach. The reason why many guitar necks are made from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. The Gypsy Ash has a natural finish, and exclusive moon phase fingerboard markers, providing you with stunning aesthetics.
The Gypsy Ash uses an on-board Luna preamp and a piezo bridge pickup, meaning you can take your Gypsy Ash to the stage and impress crowds with its gorgeous tonal properties. The Luna preamp is very simple and easy-to-use, just plug in to an amplifier, and simply play away. Control options include; bass, mids, treble, and presence.
A beautifully designed, well-crafted instrument originally created to captivate and engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent. Luna are known for creating very nature themed instruments, the ash laminate top design projects the look of all things wood and tree-like, making the Gypsy Ash stand out from the crowd. The neck is finished with Luna's exclusive moon phase fret-board markers, inlaid in mother-of-pearl, that run the length of the walnut fingerboard. The headstock is even pleasing to the eye, using Luna's signature crescent moon logo, inlaid in mother of pearl. The Gypsy Ash has a curved headstock cut, and beautiful deep oak coloured finish that really brings out Luna's creativity and obsession for alternative styles.
Yvonne Villiers is an accomplished stained-glass artist who envisioned Luna guitars. Her inspiration for a line of guitars designed to maximise playing comfort came from her mother, Hilda Villiers, a bassist for over 40 years.
Whilst watching her mum on stage, Yvonne couldn't help but notice the massive struggle her mum had whilst playing. With her mum being petite and using such a heavy instrument, she used to complain of how hard it was to be a woman and try to play these big bass guitars. Yvonne then questioned if there were others like her mum that struggled with the same problems and pains. She came up with the idea of a woman specific guitar, uniquely tailored to fit their bodies, their hands, and their musical styles.
Yvonne moved on to created Luna guitars, a line of guitars made for female musicians of all ages and crafted with luminous visual beauty to engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent. Yvonne already had brilliant artistic skills and use of colour, she then applied the same techniques as she did with her award winning stained glass work to her new line of guitars. She is known for using rich colours that shimmer and shine with every movement providing an eye-catching design along with the great musical tones Luna guitars deliver.
Yvonne's design expertise has led so many men to respond to Luna's well-crafted, spirit-engaging instruments that the company now creates guitars for both female and male musicians of all ages.
