Youngsters encouraged to buy real electric guitars
Posted on 15th Sep 2009 11:43 to category Instruments News
Buying a real electric guitar can be far more rewarding than playing games such as Rock Band, a newspaper has stated.
According to Sun columnist Bill Leckie, young people who spend time indulging in video games of this type are wasting any chance they have of experiencing the genuine buzz of performing live.
He has therefore encouraged children to dispense with computer games, learn a real musical instrument and join a real-life rock band.
"Why would anyone choose to spend hundreds of pounds kidding on they're making music when for the same money they could buy a guitar or a drum kit and do it for real?," Mr Leckie commented.
This comes in the wake of criticism from bass guitar player Bill Wyman, who told BBC News that he believes games such as Rock Band are stopping people from playing real musical instruments.
Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and Jack White of The White Stripes have also been among those to question the merits of playing the game in recent months.
