Yeasayer will be producing a unique R&B album
The last album Odd Blood, which was only released last year was seen as an innovative and wacky pop-dance number, with Will Hermes from Rolling Stones commenting that the band were "pioneers of a scene that refuses to choose between a sense of experimental adventure and pure pop pleasure".
Chris Keating, who sings and plays on the keyboard for the band, said Yeasayer were continuing to be progressive and experimental.
"It's like a demented R&B record," he told SPIN, "It's like an Aaliyah album if you played it backwards and slowed it down. Or David Bowie's Lodger. Those two are major influences."
The band are definitely investing their heart and soul into this album, spending up to 12-hours a day in the studio as they attempt to produce original music.
Keating told the magazine: "I don't want to retread any ground. So if it sounds too much like something we've done in the past, we don't do it."
