Yamaha unveils new drum kit at NAMM
The Club Custom drum set combines a retro look with groundbreaking design features that bring a unique new proposition to the professional drum market.
Designed in conjunction with Yamaha artist Steve Jordan, the drum kit is made from 100 per cent handpicked Kapur wood.
A spokesman for Yamaha said the material is perfect for drums because of its ability to deliver a resonant sound while also having the hardness to withstand being struck on a repeated basis.
"This makes Kapur an ideal wood for drums as it produces a warm, fat and expressive natural wood tone with rich mid-low range resonance," he stated.
According to Yamaha, the ability to withstand head vibration and pressure changes inside of the shell has a large part to play when it comes to a drum's core sound.
The company have posted a video of the new drum kit being tried out by Jordan on to its official website.
Over the course of his distinguished career, the drummer has played with the likes of Eric Clapton and the John Mayer Trio.
