Yamaha offering music lessons as part of Childline Rocks campaign
Musical instrument manufacturer Yamaha has presented Childline founder Esther Rantzen with a cheque for a £1,000 as part of a charity campaign.
Yamaha is supporting the Childline Rocks! initiative by providing free music lessons in exchange for learners making a donation to the non-profit body, which runs a free helpline for children in distress to call.
Gary Seeney and Gail Dallali, owners of Birmingham and Derby Yamaha music schools, presented the money to Rantzen, which was raised by their two organisations.
"These cheques are just the first of many which we hope to raise from free lessons, concerts and various activities by Birmingham Yamaha music school and our colleagues around the country," Mr Seeney said.
Earlier this month, electric guitar band The Enemy performed a special show in aid of the scheme, with support coming from Reverend and the Makers and Carl Barat.
Barat has recently rejoined The Libertines, who are set to play at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals.Posted on 16 Apr 2010 15:13 to category : Music News
